Steep Ice Cream

illustration for packaging

In 2020 Steep Creamery, a San Francisco ice cream and boba drinks shop, asked me to create an illustration that they can use on their packaging.

Their brief was really interesting - amid the covid-19 pandemic, after having just closed one of their two locations, they wanted a new packaging that was going to reflect their journey so far. Much more of a sentimental art piece, rather than a marketing tool, their goal wasn't to hit a sales target, but rather to treat their audience to a story - their story.

The ice-cream cup all around

The illustration features their story so far - from when they started in 2014, the first drink they ever sold (boba milk tea), baseball gear - as their first store opened in a baseball park, more boba drinks and their ingredients as their product offering started to expand, their second and third locations, the first ice cream they started to sell, the matcha whisk from when they started to offer matcha drinks and finally - the illustration culminates with their family portrait - the husband and wife duo who started and still own the stores, and of course - their furry friend "Piglet".
